Betty Wilson, age 92, of Erie, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Golden Living Nursing Home.
She was born June 17, 1920 in Barrow in Furness, England. She emigrated with her parents, Alfred and Martha Casson and brother, Alfie and sisters Florie and Gladys to St. Catherines, Ontario in 1925. She married Donald Wilson July 4, 1942. They lived in St. Catherines until moving to Erie in 1953. Betty and Don were married for 65 years before his death in 2008. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Richard Chase Jr. in 2003.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Chase of Fairview and a son Paul Wilson (Jane) of Erie. She is also survived by grandchildren Darlena Wilson of Meadville, Heather Chase Sheehan (Robert) of Myrtle Beach, SC., R.C. Chase IV of Fairview and Jonathan Chase (Tisha) of Erie, great grandchildren Mary and Jake Sheenan, Julia, Trey, Olivia, Jonathan and Katelyn Chase, Ella and Max Schreiner. She is further survived by a special niece and her husband, Liz and Norm Zwierschke of St. Catherines, Ontario.
Betty loved playing cards and belonged to several card clubs. She also loved golfing with her husband Don and her friends. She was an avid knitter, continuing to knit even after she lost her sight. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was special and will be missed.
Services will be private and are under the care of Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Ave., Erie, Pa. 16506.
Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
