Edmund W. Hess, age 79, formerly of Erie, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 as the result of an automobile accident in Flagler Beach, FL.
He was born in Mill Village, PA on November 14, 1932, the son of the late Susan Stevenson and Archie Hess.
He attended Strong Vincent High School and joined the National Guard during the Korean War.
Edmund was an electrician in the Erie area and worked through the I.B.E.W. Union # 56 from 1952 to 1986 and served on the executive board for 13 years. Edmund then moved to Florida where he was an electrician until his retirement in 2002 after 50 years of service. While in Erie he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Masonic bodies and was an actor at the Erie Playhouse. He also did several movies at Disney World in Florida and was in a safety film for the Space Center. He was currently serving in his 10th year as an elected commissioner for the City of Beverly Beach, Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Bloss Hess, four daughters, Laura Kling and her husband Jack of Pittsburgh, Christine Crotty and her husband Michael of Satellite Beach, FL, Cheryl Majkut and her husband Gerry of Pittsburgh, and Lisa Hess of Flagler Beach, FL, a son Eric Hess of Pittsburgh; a brother Robert Hess and his wife, Tracy of Erie and nine grandchildren, Neal Kling, Jessica Kling, Maggie Crotty, John Crotty, Tim Crotty, Marie Laury and her husband Marc, Angela Majkut, Joseph Majkut, and Daniel Hess.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) Thursday from 2-5 PM and are invited to a graveside service at Laurel Hill Cemetery Friday morning at 10:00 am.
