James J. Kidon, age 93, formerly of Fairview, died Monday, August 20, 2012, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West. Born December 17, 1918, in Lakewood, OH, he was a son of the late Frank and Johanna Barcush Kidon.
Jim served in the US Army during World War II. He had worked in the diamond mines of South Africa and in construction in the Aleutian Islands off the Alaskan coast. Jim had attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard.
Jim was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Bujnovsky, Margaret Beck and Henrietta Onest, and two brothers, Frank and Emil Kidon. He is survived by one sister, Mildred Colson of Trenton, FL, a sister-in-law, Mary Kidon of Girard, two nieces, Joanne Curry and her husband Bob, Marlene Dexter, six nephews: Francis Onest and his wife Marilyn, Richard Onest and his wife Mary, Jacob Onest and his wife Carol, Theodore Onest and his wife Gail, Randy Kidon and Milton Kidon.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Burton's All Faiths Chapel.
