Velma Brantley, age 84, of Erie, PA died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Millcreek Manor.

She was born in Nash County, North Carolina on June 3rd, 1928, the daughter of the late James and Ethley Taylor Brantley.

Velma was a resident of Erie since 1978 and was a volunteer at the City Mission for many years and had belonged to the Lydia Ladies Mission Group.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son James Kenneth Howell; two sisters, Eloise Bunn and Lillian Talton, and a brother Albert Brantley.

She is survived by two daughters; Sherry Dumbeck and husband John of Erie and Gloria Jean Howell of Norfolk, VA; a son Harold Glenwood Howell and his wife Sandy of Chesapeake, VA; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Avenue on Tuesday from 11am until the time of services at 1pm with Pastor Jim Hodge officiating.

Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the family residence, 1667 Dudley, Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:30 PM.
