Carl Robert Fitzreiter, age 93, of Saint Mary's Asbury Ridge died Monday, August 27, 2012.
Born in Erie on July 3, 1919, he was the son of the late Carl and Helen Tessmer Fitzreiter.
Carl was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School.
He served in the United States Air Force in the South Pacific Theater, in the 69th Bomb Squadron (M) of the 13th Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain as Engineering Officer.
He retired from Penelec in 1979 after 42 years, where he worked as a Supervisor in the Underground Department. Carl was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was also was a member of the Maenerchor, Danish Club, and a life long member of the Siebenbuerger Club and the Zukor Club.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Wagner Fitzreiter.
He is survived by his present wife, Marion Rogers Fitzreiter; two sons, James Fitzreiter and wife Cris of Orlando, FL and Robert Fitzreiter and his wife Deborah of Erie; his daughter Judi Beaton and husband Glenn of Erie and stepson Denis Rogers also of Erie.
He is further survived by six grandchildren, one step grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Avenue Wednesday, September 5th, from 6pm to 9pm and are invited to a service there at 10am on Thursday, with Rev. Roy Washill officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
