Daniel James Bowden, age 56, of East Springfield, died Saturday, September 8, 2012, at his residence following a five year battle with cancer. Born August 1, 1956, in Erie, he was a son of E. Lucille Bowden and the late George Bowden.
Dan was a graduate of McDowell High School and was the past owner of Pest Patrol Exterminating. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. He loved the outdoors and had a tremendous knowledge of plants, trees and wildlife.
Dan is survived by his wife Roberta L. Baughman Bowden, his mother E. Lucille Bowden of Erie, a daughter Rachel Bowden, at home, a son Matthew Bowden and his girlfriend Sara Lada of Conneaut, OH, his mother-in-law Donna R. Baughman of East Springfield, three sisters: Eileen Cullen and Patty Hazlett, both of Erie, Anne Storey and her husband Bill of Marietta, GA; two brothers: George Bowden and his wife Naphathai of Ouzinkie, Alaska, Tim Bowden of West Springfield; as well as several good friends, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Burton's All Faiths Chapel.
