Maurice A. Phillips, age 73, of Millcreek passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in West Springfield, PA on June 1, 1939 the son of Dorothy Hammer Phillips and the late Bernard Phillips.
He was a graduate of McDowell High School, Class of 1959.
He was a member of Weis Library United Methodist Church, the Erie Aquarium Society, the Erie Stamp Club, and was active in Boy Scouts.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Marjory A. Parker, in 2000, two uncles, Norman H. Hammer and Robert Hammer and three aunts, Laura Beyer, Peggy Hammer and Doris Hammer.
In addition to his mother Dorothy Phillips, he is survived by a brother-in-law, James Parker and his wife Shirley of Millcreek; two nephews, Bernard Parker and his wife Brenda of Fairview, and Thomas Parker and his wife Debbi, Cincinnati, OH; three great-nephews, Adam, Bradley and Joseph Parker, and a great-niece, Irene Parker; an uncle Clifford Hammer of Roanoke, VA and an aunt, Wilda Hammer of Erie. He is further survived by several cousins.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend services at Weis Library United Methodist Church on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Frank Hodges officiating.
Burial will be in Weis Library Cemetery.
