Leo John Corcoran, age 91, of Erie, died, at his residence, Sunday, October 28, 2012.

He was born in Erie on July 20, 1921, the son of the late Leo and Marie Volk Corcoran.

A graduate of Academy High School, Class of 1938; Leo would go off to serve during WWII as a member of the Ghost Army. This elite group was designed to create confusion to the enemy, much of it through art, throughout Europe from D-Day to the end of the War.

Leo continued his artistic side as an accomplished lithographer by trade; his skill blended into his home life as he was also a gifted artist; with great detail to his creations.

Leo is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Garlow Corcoran; his daughter, Jane L. Raymond and her husband Ron; and two granddaughters, Valerie A. Staley and her husband Bart, of Greencastle, PA and Michelle E. Raymond and her fiancé Adam Widger. He is further survived by two great-grandchildren, Quinn E. and Liam J. Staley; a niece, Linda Sciavone, of Vermont; and a nephew, Robert Gieringer, of Hilton Head, S.C.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Avenue on Thursday from noon until the time of services at 2p.m. with the Reverend Harry Johns, III officiating.

Burial will be in Erie Cemetery.
