David E. Thompson, age 70 of Waterford, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center.
He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on March 21, 1939, a son of the late John Edward and Evelyn Catherine Kress Thompson.
David graduated from New Wilmington High School and the Pittsburgh University School of Pharmacy.
He had been a pharmacist at Benscreek Pharmacy and Rite Aid in Erie and retired in 1999.
David enjoyed golfing, playing solitaire, and his best friend, Cuddles the cat. He was a member of the Wednesday Club at the Erie Center for the Blind. He also attended The Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Boyd Holsopple and Clifford Meyers, and his great great granddaughter Korina.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Thompson, his daughter Patricia Stahl and her husband David; two sisters-in-law Marian Holsopple and Cathy Meyers; grandchildren: William Stahl and Jackie, Nora Yoder and Shawn, Heather Paugh and Jason, and stepson Daniel Makin and Jamie; stepdaughter Lori Chylinski and her husband Robert; step grandchildren: Michael Steck, Walker Steck, Briana Makin, Johnathon Makin, Mark Bartlebaugh, II, Kayla Bartlebaugh, Jacob Chylinski, Benjamin Chylinski; great grandchildren: Gavin Paugh and Anna Grace Paugh and a step great grandchild Charlie.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements under the care of Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street.
