Paul H. Thomas, 81, of Pleasant Ridge Manor West, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Born October 5, 1928, in Emporium, PA, he was a son of the late Jackson M. and Clara I. Edgar Thomas. Paul was a graduate of Cameron County High School and served in the US Army. He lived in Erie most of his life, but since his retirement 18 years ago, he resided in Sebring, FL. Paul was a truck driver and also worked in construction at GE and Litton. He enjoyed golf, bowling and playing bingo. Paul was a member of the Teamsters and the Elks Club.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years, Ruth Knarr Thomas; his second wife of 28 years, Minnie Nagy Thomas; a son, Walter Dippold (Luck); three sisters: Elyda, Beulah and Helen; and six brothers: Oliver, Bill, Leon, Fennii, Jackson Jr. and Harry.
Paul is survived by a daughter: Cheryl Testi and her husband Rich of Girard; a son: Paul E. (Tom) Thomas of Erie; three stepdaughters: Linda Evans and her husband Rick, Michel Godfrey and her husband Wayne, all of Erie, and Sharon Sobolewski and her husband John of McKean; two sisters: Marty Ryan and Pauline Bolinger, both of Emporium; twelve grandchildren: Amy Dippold Anderson and her husband Bill of Texas; Jeff Dippold of Arizona; Dan Dippold and his wife Holly, Jessica Dippold Nimnich and her husband Tim, and Nichole Dippold Ennis and her husband Joe, all of Alabama; Kelly Dippold Ford and her husband Justin of Florida; Kirsten Thomas Baldwin and her husband Jason of Louisiana; Krystal Thomas of Ohio; Matt Thomas of Erie; Kyle Testi of Girard; Ray Testi of North Carolina; and Trisha Testi Aranyos and her husband Shawn of Girard; nine stepgrandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Friday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. A funeral service will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Burton’s All Faiths Chapel with Rev.
