Florence A. Kindzora Kostek age 89, of Erie, passed away Sunday July 25, 2010.

She was born in Erie on August 27, 1920, the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Mackowski Kindzora.

A life long Erie resident, Florence was a 1938 graduate of East High School and attended Gannon College. She went on to work as a Federal State employee for 20 years as a secretary for the State Police in Lawrence Park, and served as Chief Union Stewart.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound. She made Women's Cursillo #136, and was past Regent of the Catholic Daughters of the American Court #515. Florence also sponsored two girls in India through the Catholic Foundation for Children and Aged.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Kostek and two brothers Raymond and Jerome Kindzora.

Florence is survived by her son Gary Kostek and his wife Michele of Erie, two daughters Helen Aichner and her husband David of Puyallup, WA and Joan Ross and her husband Larry of Canby OR, nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home 2532 Norcross Road Erie, Pa 16510 on Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 1553 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16510 at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rev. Joseph T. Scheffner Educational Endowment Fund, 1553 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16510 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children 1645 8th Street Erie, Pa., 16505.
